Gaming Question - LOTR

Postby Tendalus » Mon Dec 19, 2005 1:30 pm

Was there ever a good LoTR game made for console or pc? Or were they all pretty terrible?

I've only played one of the LOTR console games, I think it was the original one. It was pretty fun if you can overlook the fact that it was like 5 hours of game play.

Battle for Middle Earth has some cool stuff, but in the end was barely above average as a RTS. I'd rate it as a Starcraft -2. The sequel is in the works now, and from what I've been reading, they are keeping most all of the cool tricks, and doing away with the annoying things (like fixed place to build things).

The console hack and slash games were fun to play through about once. After that the lack of depth/replay starts to shine through.

The console RPG game was... uhm... no.

Battle for Middle Earth is fun. It's not a complex RTS (it's really, really simple, actually), but it's FUN. Not as god as Starcraft or Dawn of War, certainly, but entertaining.
