My original server runs an IRC channel on irc.gamesurge.net -- after being here for 7 months or so, I figure it's about time I'm able to chat it up with Ysera natives instead of just those dudes who really don't even know me anymore.
On irc.gamesurge.net I've registered #ysera. If you're familiar with IRC you should have no problems hopping right in.
I'm going to steal someone else's wording here, but the information is relevant, so I guess that makes it okay...
For people who have never used IRC before, you'll want to start by picking up a client. For the windows platform, mIRC is simple and easy to use. That's a free download @ http://www.mirc.com. Your first time running mIRC will prompt you for some basic information (name, alias, misc info). Once that's complete use the aforementioned information to find us!
I understand some people may have concerns about security, but there are ways to protect yourself that are provided through gamesurge. Following this guide: http://www.gamesurge.net/newuser/ will allow you to protect your hostmask / IP address to avoid the possibility of being flooded, DoS attacked and so forth.
some might ask... why aren't we using efnet (or any of the other networks)...? easy answer: because i said so. go start your own #ysera.
