Gary Gygax, undisputed king of my childhood, died today.

Even this game owes its existence to Gary Gygax so we should all roll a 20-sided die in his honor.

I remember when i was 10 years old my uncle mailed me this



My mom found it and promptly burned it. After my uncle found out he started scouring the old second hand stores. When i went to visit one summer i had a small collection of all the original books and modules.

This game was a tying bond between all my junior high school friends, hell we are still hanging together together today. Abrick/Smallpox, Hapshaw, Milkfactory, plus many others. We always got together on the weekends to play, and my dwarf fighter would always loose his saving throw against the damn banshies. Maybe its time to get a group together and do a memorial session.

RIP Gary, i can honestly say he has given me good memories and great friends.
